GLIAC Football Preview Notes - Week #9
BAY CITY, Mich. - Week #9 of the 2010 college football season finds just one GLIAC team with an unblemished conference record. Grand Valley State University (7-0, 8-0 overall) will to clinch a share of the GLIAC championship and a share of the North Division title with a road win at Michigan Technological University (5-2, 5-2 overall) on Saturday (1:00 p.m.).
The Huskies are currently tied for second place in the North Division with Ferris State University (5-2, 5-3 overall). MTU is coming off a record-setting performance last weekend when the Huskies recorded 62-30 home win over Northwood University. Tech’s 62-point performance was its best against any opponent (including non-GLIAC foes) since a 76-point day vs. Manitoba at Sherman Field in 1992. GVSU, ranked first again this week in the in the AFCA Division II Top 25 poll after, are coming off a 41-0 victory at Ferris State last Saturday.
Hillsdale College (5-2, 6-2 overall) is currently tied with Wayne State University (5-2, 6-2 overall) for the South Division crown, after the Warriors posted a 14-9 over the Chargers in Detroit last Saturday. Hillsdale, which fell to No. 17 in this week's AFCA poll, will look to rebound with tilt at Northwood University (4-3, 4-4 overall) on Saturday (12:00 p.m.). WSU, which were listed in the "Others Recieving Votes" category, will travel to University Center (Mich.) to take on Saginaw Valley State University (3-4, 3-5 overall) Saturday at Noon.
