GVSU Advances, Ashland & Wayne State Eliminated on Day 2 of NCAA Midwest Regional

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Grand Valley State University remained undefeated, while Ashland University and Wayne State University were eliminated at the NCAA D-II Midwest Region Tournament on Friday.  The Lakers advance to play the other undefeated team in the regional, host University of Southern Indiana, at Noon on Saturday.

#20 Grand Valley State continued its NCAA Division II Tournament on Friday night against #22 Northern Kentucky at USI Baseball Field, as senior Jared Knuth took the mound for the Lakers in only their third night game of the season. In the other two night games, the Lakers were 0-2 and allowed 28 runs. They quickly turned that around with a dominating 7-1 victory over the Norse.

The Eagles’ season came to a close on Friday (May 14) when Indianapolis defeated AU in the losers’ bracket of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at Southern Indiana, 5-2.

The 2010 season came to an end for the Wayne State University baseball team on Friday afternoon, as the Warriors (32-20) were eliminated from the NCAA Midwest Regional following a 12-10 loss to the University of Southern Indiana (45-12).
