Tiffin's Devin Rudolph Named ABCA Midwest Region "Position Player of the Year"

ASHLAND, Ohio - Tiffin University senior outfielder Devin Rudolph (Pickerington, Ohio) was named the 2010 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Midwest Region “Position Player of the Year” by the region’s head coaches in all-region balloting.

Rudolph was also named GLIAC baseball “Player of the Year” after his record-setting 2010 season. Rudolph, the NCAA Division II leader in batting average with a .529 mark, shattered the GLIAC and Tiffin records for season average. His .529 average eclipsed Tiffin’s former record by 59 points. He also led the GLIAC in slugging percentage and on-base percentage while also placing in the top five in hits, doubles, home runs, and runs-batted-in. Rudolph ranks among the D-II leaders in nine separate offensive categories, including ranking seventh in the nation in on-base percentage. He was twice named GLIAC “Player of the Week” this season.

Five other GLIAC players earned ABCA first-team All-Region honors, including a trio of Grand Valley State University players.  Senior second baseman Kyle Gendron, junior pitcher Joe Jablonski, and sophomore outfielder Cody Grice each represented the Lakers on the first team.  Wayne State University senior outfielder Ryan LaPensee earned a spot on the first team. While Ashland University senior Ben Minard not only earned first-team honors at the pitcher position, he claimed second-team accolades at first base.
