  The Ferris State University men’s tennis team evened its overall record to 8-8 overall with a weekend home sweep of Lake Superior State and Michigan Tech at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.Both wins came by identical 9-0 scores. FSU did not lose a singles set in either of the two weekend matches and the closest doubles score was an 8-4 decision.FSU is presently ranked 39th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Poll along with third in the current Great Lakes Regional Rankings.Ferris suffered a narrow 5-4 home setback to nationally 19th-ranked rival Northwood last Tuesday (March 25). Three of the six singles flights went to three sets. FSU led the Timberwolves 2-1 following doubles action.The Bulldogs are 60-47 overall in singles play along with 24-29 in doubles action to date during the 2007-08 campaign.Ferris continues its five-match homestand by hosting Wayne State Saturday (April 5) in its final regular-season conference match at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. The match starts at 1 p.m. (EDT).

  The University of Findlay men’s tennis team fell 9-0 to Walsh University on Sunday, March 30 in Findlay, Ohio. The loss gives the Oilers a 5-6 record on the season.The Oilers will be back in action again on April 4 when they face Michigan Technological University at 1:00 p.m. in Houghton, Michigan. d to end their regular season.

 Grand Valley State went 3-0 this week, defeating Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State 9-0 and Calvin, 5-4…The Lakers are 14-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference play…In singles play, junior Alex Switzer went 3-0, defeating Michigan Tech’s Alan Parenteau, 6-0, 6-0 and Lake Superior State’s Steve Demps, 6-0, 6-1…freshman Philipp Claus also went 3-0 over the week and improved his record to 15-2 since joining the team…In doubles play, Switzer teamed up with fellow sophomore Matt Globerson to win all three matches this week…the duo is 19-3 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in GLIAC play…GVSU will host two GLIAC matches this week, against Northwood on Wednesday and Wayne State on Friday.

   LSSU notched 9-7 wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles and held on to beat Alma 5-4 on March 27…The Lakers dropped to 0-4 in the GLIAC after back-to-back 9-0 losses at Ferris State and Grand Valley State…They play their first home match of the season against Findlay on Saturday…Redshirt freshman Pawel Wegrzyn (Mississauga, Ont.) is 8-11 at No. 1 singles and 5-8 while paired with redshirt freshman Brandon Clayton (Windsor, Ont.) at No. 1 doubles…LSSU’s No. 2 doubles team of junior Craig Baas (Cadillac, Mich.) and freshman Robert Nelson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) is 5-6.

Mercyhurst lost a pair of GLIAC matches this week, losing to Northwood 8-1 and to Wayne State 6-3…Mijo Cotic and Adam Marnik picked up the lone victory against Northwood, winning at No. 3 doubles…Ronald Heurich won both of his matches against Wayne State, including a grueling 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 victory at No. 5 singles…Freshman Tim Hansson picked up a victory at No. 1 singles against Wayne State and is 3-1 in conference play at the top of the lineup. He is 6-4 on the year at that position.

  Michigan Tech plays its final two home matches this weekend against Findlay Friday (April 4) and Mercyhurst Saturday (April 5).

Timberwolves
   The Northwood University men’s tennis team improved to 6-2 on the season with a pair of conference victories last week, downing Ferris State 5-4 before defeating Mercyhurst 8-1 … the Timberwolves are now 4-0 in GLIAC play … NU was led by No. 1 singles and doubles player Peter Kazianschuetz (Gnas, Austria) … he went 3-1 overall last week ... he posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 1-1 mark at No. 1 doubles … Kazianschuetz defeated Lewis DeGeneault of Ferris State 6-2, 6-4 in the Timberwolves 5-4 victory over the Bulldogs … he then earned a 7-5, 6-4 win over Tim Hansson of Mercyhurst … overall, he is 12-4 on the season (6-2 singles, 6-2 doubles), which includes a 5-1 mark in GLIAC play.

Warriors
 The Wayne State men’s tennis team’s continued GLIAC play with a 6-3 victory over visiting Mercyhurst at The Gross Pointe Hunt Club (March 29) improving to 4-0. Later that same day, the team traveled to Toledo, Ohio for a match against Division I opponent University of Toledo. Despite a solid effort, the team dropped a hard fought 5-2 decision.Antoine Marenaud is currently riding a team-high eight match singles winning streak. Seniors Donavon Mitchell (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) and Alejandro Gomez (Comitan Chiapas, Mexico/Instituto Moderno Comitan) along with freshman Johan Maubacq (Bussy St. Georges, France) all saw their winning streaks come to an end at eight, seven and five matches respectively.
