Oilers
The Oilers won their second straight game on the year with a 4-0 win over Tiffin in non-conference action… The game marked the first time this season that four different Findlay players scored a goal in a game… Sophomore B.J. Goodwin added another goal in the win and now has eight on the year…He leads the team with 20 total points.

Golden Knights
Gannon was perfect in two home matches last weekend, completing season sweeps of Saginaw Valley State (2-0) and Northwood (2-1) … the Golden Knights were ranked 25th nationally and fourth regionally in the September 25th National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) polls … Gannon is 5-0 at home this season and has won nine consecutive home matches dating back to last season … the Golden Knights’ last home loss came against Findlay on September 23, 2006 … Dan Howell (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) had two goals and one assist last weekend, scoring the game-tying goal against Northwood in the 66th minute and assisting on the game-winner with 9:55 remaining in regulation … Howell has recorded a point in every match this season … Matt Cuthbert (London, Ontario/Sir Wilfrid Laurier) netted the game-winner against Northwood, heading in a corner kick … it was Cuthbert’s first goal as a Golden Knight since transferring to Gannon prior to the 2006 season … Afrim Latifi (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) scored the game-winner against SVSU with his first career goal … Steven Boehmer (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) made five saves against SVSU, recording his first career shutout in the process … Gannon has two huge regional matches that will most likely effect their post-season hopes this weekend at Truman State and Rockhurst.

Lakers
The Mercyhurst Lakers men’s soccer team suffered two losses to GLIAC opponents this weekend… Against Northwood, the Lakers held a 3-1 lead before letting it slip away to a 6-4 decision in favor of Northwood … Freshman Billy Colton scored two goals in the loss…Again against Saginaw Valley, the Lakers held a 1-0 advantage until late in the 84th minute when the Saginaw Valley Cardinals scored back-to-back goals in a little over one minute to take the 2-1 win…Mercyhurst will have one week off before playing three opponents in Houghton on 10/9, Findlay on 10/12, and Ashland on 10/14.

Timberwolves
Northwood went 1-1 last week, claiming an exciting 6-4 victory at Mercyhurst before falling 2-1 at Gannon … Northwood is now 3-4-1 overall, 1-3-1 in the GLIAC … after trailing 3-1 at Mercyhurst, Northwood netted three goals before halftime to send the game to the break with the Timberwolves leading 4-3 … sophomore Ross Aitchison (Berwick, Scotland) scored a pair of goals in the game, while Mike Spencer (London, England) and Sascha Nanninga (Hamburg, Germany) each finished with a goal and an assist … the Timberwolves then led 1-0 in the second half at No. 25 Gannon before the Golden Knights scored a pair of goals to earn the victory … Aitchison scored Northwood’s lone tally in the contest, his team-leading eighth of the season … he also hit the crossbar on a header in the second half that would have given Northwood a 2-1 lead … the Timberwolves will host Findlay and Ashland this week.

Cardinals
The Cardinals went 1-1 in their trip to Erie, Penn., last week....SVSU defeated Mercyhurst for the second time in two weeks in a 2-1 match....Senior Jimmy Henry (Oxford, Mich.) scored the game winner at Mercyhurst at the 85:54 mark in the match....The goal was Henry’s fourth on the season, good for second on the team....Junior Brent Walker (Owosso, Mich.) led the Cardinals with four shots on goal last week....Sophomore Brennan MacMillan (Bay City, Mich./John Glenn) notched his first career goal against Mercyhurst at he 84:26 mark to tie the game.
