Eagles
 The Eagles remain winless after losing two GLIAC matches to Gannon and Mercyhurst by the same 4-1 score. Senior forward Albert Smith (Pickerington, OH/West Virginia Univ.) added his third goal of the year in the loss to Gannon, assisted by sophomore midfielder Max Hiltner (Wadsworth, OH). Freshman Zach Il’Giovine (Concord Twp, OH/Lake Catholic) tallied his first collegiate goal against Mercyhurst, with senior goalkeeper Ryan Cruise (Ormskirk, Lancaster, UK/Hartwell College) being credited with the assist. Earlier in the week, in a non-conference match, senior defenseman Aaron Favri (Burbank, OH/Norwayne) netted his second goal of the year, with a helper from sophomore midfielder Tom Mangotic (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne).

Oilers
  The Oilers finished the week with a 1-2 record… They lost to Ohio Dominican and Mercyhurst and won against 25th ranked Gannon…Sophomore B.J. Goodwin was once again the star for the Oilers, posting four goals in the three games…He recorded his first career hat trick in the win over Gannon…Goodwin has now scored a team-high seven goals…He also has four assists on the year, giving him a total of 18 points.

Golden Knights

  Gannon ran its season-opening undefeated streak to seven last week before suffering its first loss of the season at Findlay … the Golden Knights were ranked 25th nationally and fourth regionally in the September 18th National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) polls … Geneo Oberst (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Edwards) was the only Golden Knight with multiple goals last week, including the game-winner at Ashland … Oberst has scored a goal in four consecutive matches, producing seven goals and one assist during that stretch … Andy Hay (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) started the scoring against Ashland with his first career goal … Gannon allowed four goals in its loss at Findlay, the most goals it has allowed since a 4-1 loss to Mercyhurst in the 2006 regular-season finale … the Golden Knights have scored at least three goals in five of eight matches this season after netting at least three goals in six matches last season.

  The Mercyhurst men’s soccer team turned in a 2-0 record against GLIAC opponents Findlay and Ashland this weekend…The Lakers defeated Findlay 2-1 on Friday with goals from senior Kyle Jackson and sophomore Kurt Young...Mercyhurst stepped it up on Sunday by defeating Ashland 4-1… Freshman Billy Colton produced two goals and one assists in the win…Sophomore Kurt Young also tallied one goal and one assist…Junior Robbie Kennerey was responsible for the last goal in the 4-1 win over Ashland.

   The Northwood men’s soccer team had last week off … they will return to action this weekend with a pair of matches in Erie, Pa. … Northwood faces Mercyhurst Friday and Gannon Sunday.

  The Cardinals were defeated 4-0 at Tiffin on Friday in their only action this week...SVSU junior Brent Walker (Owosso, Mich.) is currently tied for fifth in the GLIAC in shots with 24...Walker also ranks tied for second in the conference in points with 13.
