Eagles
The Eagles fell 2-1 to Malone on Wednesday. Both teams scored on penalty kicks, with sophomore forward Adam Spannbauer (Akron, OH/Firestone) scoring AU’s first goal of the season. Indianapolis blanked the Eagles, 3-0, in a game marred by 37 fouls, four yellow cards, and a red card.

The Oilers lost their second and third games of the season to Northern Kentucky and Bellarmine…Brennan Williams scored his first career goal in the loss to Northern Kentucky, the Oilers lone goal in their three games thus far.

Golden Knights
Gannon remained undefeated with a 2-1 victory over Indianapolis in the squad’s only match of the week, winning the first three matches of the season for the first time since 1996 … the Golden Knights are 6-0-1 in their last seven home matches dating back to last season and haven’t lost a home contest since September 23, 2006 … Dan Howell (Erie, Pa./Iroquois), the 2005 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, contributed to both scores … Howell scored the first goal and assisted on the game-winner with 11:21 left in regulation … Howell has been involved in six of Gannon’s eight goals this season, scoring three times and assisting on three … Gareth Kolkenbeck-Ruh (Johannesburg, South Africa) headed in the game-winner, recording his fifth career game-winner … Gannon has allowed two goals in three matches, but both goals went in off of Gannon defenders … the Golden Knights have not trailed at any point this season … Gannon has out-shot its three opponents 64-38 and out-scored them 8-2.

Mercyhurst men’s soccer split a pair of games this week by beating Seton Hill 3-1 and dropping a decision to Rockhurst 1-0…Three different players contributed in the win against Seton Hill with Sean Spangler, Kurt Young and Billy Colton earning their first points of the season…Junior Sean Spangler leads the team with three points on the year with 1G,1A and a .500% shot percentage…1-2-1 record is the slowest start in the last two years.

Timberwolves
The Northwood men’s soccer team went 1-1 last week, dropping a 2-0 match at Lewis before earning a 3-1 victory at Saint Joseph’s … the Timberwolves are now 1-2 overall on the season … sophomore Ross Aitchison (Berwick, Scotland) proved to be the hero in the win over Saint Joseph’s … he scored all three of the Timberwolves’ goals, which all occurred in the first half … he opened the scoring against the Pumas less than three minutes into the game off a feed from Art Neilson (Glasgow, Scotland) … Aitchison then finished a pair of penalty kicks later in the half to send Northwood to the break with a 3-0 lead … keeper Kenny Huber (Grand Blanc, Mich.) made four saves to earn his first win of the season … the Timberwolves will host Alma Wednesday at 4 p.m. in their lone action of the week.

The Cardinal men’s soccer team evened their record at 2-2 this week winning twice before losing on Sunday against Quincy…SVSU claimed a 1-0 win over Aquinas on Monday and defeated Alma 2-0 on Saturday…SVSU is 0-2 against NCAA Division II schools this year…Six different players have scored one goal this year with SVSU being outscored 9-6…Larry Ferriera (London, Ont.) and Mitch Erwin (Royal Oak, Mich./Dondero) both scored their first goals at SVSU in a 3-2 loss to Quincy on Sunday…Goalkeeper Eric Carnes (Portage, Mich./Northern) posted two shutouts this week making five saves against Aquinas.
