Golden Knights
Gannon capped a great GLIAC run with a 2-0 victory over Northwood in the league’s championship match last Saturday … the Golden Knights finished 10-0-1 at home this season and are unbeaten in their last 15 home matches dating back to 2006 … Gannon received its first NCAA Tournament bid since 1993 and will play at Northern Kentucky Friday, November 9 in the opening round … the Golden Knights have posted 16 victories in a season for the first time since the 1993 squad went 16-3 … only three teams in school history have posted more than 16 wins in a single season … Dan Howell (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) scored three goals during the GLIAC Tournament, including the first two against Mercyhurst in the semifinals that gave Gannon a 2-0 lead … Geneo Oberst (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Edward) and Afrim Latifi (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) both recorded their GLIAC-best fifth game-winning goal during the tournament … Oberst scored the game-winner against Mercyhurst in overtime and Latifi netted the winner against Northwood … Steven Boehmer’s (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) 83 saves this season equals the fifth-highest single-season total in school history.

Lakers
Mercyhurst suffered a 3-2 loss in overtime to Gannon on Thursday in the GLIAC semi-finals…The Lakers fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game at two to send it into overtime before giving up the game-winning goal in the 97th minute of play…In the first half, Gannon scored the first match of the game in the 35th minute…Less than three minutes into the second half, Howell tallied his second goal of the match to give Gannon the 2-0 advantage….In the 67th minute, freshman All-GLIAC First-Team member Billy Colton put a goal on the scoreboard for the Lakers…Junior Robbie Kennerney scored the tying goal for Mercyhurst with 15 seconds left in regulation…Gannon would go on to score in the 97th minute to advance in the GLIAC Tournament.

Timberwolves
Northwood saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss in the finals of the GLIAC Tournament … Gannon scored a goal late in the first half and in the final six minutes to earn the win in the evenly-played match … the Golden Knights held advantages of 17-15 in shots and 7-6 in corner kicks … NU placed four players on the All-GLIAC team – Art Neilson (Glasgow, Scotland) and Filip Dabovic (Hamburg, Germany) were named First Team, while Ross Aitchison (Berwick, Scotland) and Mike Spencer (London, England) earned Second Team honors … Northwood, which entered the championship match on a school-record six-game winning streak, will return all but two players for the 2008 season.

Saginaw Valley finished the season with a school record 11 wins….The previous mark was eight wins……SVSU had a season long five game winning streak that helped propel them past the eight win mark….SVSU took part in the first ever GLIAC Championships hosted by Gannon University….The Cardinals lost in their first match to Northwood University 2-1.
