Eagles
The Eagles fell 2-0 to Missouri-Rolla in their
only match of the week. AU was outshot 17-9 and 5-4 for
shots on goal. Sophomore Blaize Lishewski (Sylvania, OH/
St. Francis DeSales) and senior Ryan Cruise (Ormskirk,
Lancaster, UK/Hartwell College) split time at goal, each
allowing one shot to find the net.

Oilers
The University of Findlay men’s soccer team
opened their season on Saturday, August 25 with a 3-0 loss
to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin...
The Rangers scored three times in the second period
as Daryl Lotz picked up the loss by allowing all three
goals to go along with four saves...The Oilers will be back
in action again on Friday, August 31 when they host the
Northern Kentucky University. Kick-off is scheduled for
4:30 p.m. at DeHaven Field.

Gannon University
Golden Knights
Gannon opened the season last weekend with
victories over Great Lakes Region foes Kentucky Wesleyan
(3-0) and Southern Indiana (3-1), winning the first two
matches of the season for the first time since 1996 … the
Golden Knights are 4-0-1 in their last five home matches
dating back to last season and haven’t lost a home contest
since September 23, 2006 … Dan Howell (Erie, Pa./
Iroquois), the 2005 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, opened
the season with six points in two matches after sitting out the
entire 2006 campaign with an injury … Howell dished out
two assists in the season opener and then scored twice in
the victory over USI … Gannon out-shot KWC and USI
50-21, including a 23-6 edge in the first half … an own goal
during the USI match was the only goal Gannon allowed
during the opening weekend … Rudi Costa (Johannesburg,
South Africa) tallied goals in each match, including the gamewinner
against USI … the Golden Knights scored in the
first 5:21 of both matches.

Lakers
Mercyhurst opened its season this weekend
by hosting two matches…Both games went to overtime with
the Lakers losing 2-1 to Southern Indiana Friday and tying
Kentucky Wesleyan 1-1 Sunday…Freshman Thomas Lund
scored his first career goal against Southern Indiana and
Junior transfer Robbie Kennerney scored his first goal as a
Laker against Kentucky Wesleyan…Junior goalkeeper
Daniel Mudd recorded seven saves on the weekend and
allowed three goals…Mercyhurst out shot their opponents
59-21 in the two games combined.

University
Timberwolves
The Northwood University men’s soccer team
opened its 2007 season with a 3-1 loss to Drury Sunday
afternoon (August 26) … the game proved to be physical,
particularly in the first half when four yellow cards were
issued … the Panthers scored on a penalty kick with just
over 10 minutes remaining in the opening half to lead 1-0 at
the break … after DU made the score 2-0, Northwood’s
Ross Aitchison (Berwick, Scotland) cut the lead in half after
the Panthers turned the ball over deep in their own end.
Drury wasted no time getting the tally back, scoring less
than three minutes later to make the score 3-1 … final match
statistics proved to be close. Drury finished with an 11-9
advantage in shots, while both teams had a pair of corner
kicks … Northwood finished the match with one more foul
that Drury (19-18) … Northwood is back in action Sept. 1
at Lewis for a 2:30 match.

Cardinals
Saginaw Valley State men’s soccer
dropped a 6-1 decision to Drury University to open the
2007 season on Saturday…The Cardinals were outshot 18-
8 in the contest with their lone goal coming off the foot of
junior Brandon LeBlanc (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) in
the 86th minute with an assist from freshman Kyle Bujalski
(Grand Blanc, Mich.)…SVSU had four shots on goal while
Drury had 14 shots on goal.
