Eagles
The Eagles were ranked fourth in last week’s NCAA Division II power rankings…senior Rob Klenk (Fairmont, OH/Kettering) was tabbed as the field athlete of the year at last week’s GLIAC championships. Klenk finished first in the hammer throw and javelin. It’s no surprise that he won the hammer – Klenk is ranked first in the country in that event. The javelin is not his specialty and his victory there helped AU edge Grand Valley State in the final team standings…senior Bryan Vickers (Circleville, OH) has the longest throw in the country in the shot put and the fourth best mark in the discus. Vickers established a GLIAC championships record in the shot (63-11)…sophomore Nick Bellanco (Wooster, OH) has become one of AU’s most valuable all-around performers. At the GLIAC meet he won the 400 meters, was third in the 200 and fourth in the long jump and triple jump. Bellanco was part of two first place relays – the 4X100 and 4X400…sophomore Alan Dunson (Columbus, OH/Walnut Ridge) finished first in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 400 hurdles and was tabbed as the freshman of the year.
