Chargers
Hillsdale College Gina Relays provides a chance for the athletes to perform in front of friends in a familiar environment. And several of the athletes took advantage of that to record some outstanding performances.Leading the way for the Chargers were men’s hammer throwers Aaron Falk and Jason Stomps, who each made a little bit of history at the Ginas. They finished 3-4 respectively in the hammer throw, and became automatic outdoor qualifiers for the national meet in the hammer, the first time that has happened in men’s outdoor track history.Falk threw the hammer 193 feet and four inches, one inchh better than Stomps. They were the top two hammer throwers at the meet that competed for a team. The number one and two throwers at the meet were unatached. Both Falk and Stomps will return to the NCAA Division II championships again this year, which will take place May 22-24 in California.Another athlete who is no stranger to national meets is sophomore Jared Krout, who wowed the home crowd with his time in the 400 meter dash (:48.24) for a second place finish.
