Hillsdale College
Chargers
On the strength of a NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark by Aaron Falk, and a new school record by Jared Krout, the Hillsdale College Men’s Track & Field team continued their early season surge at the Findlay Classic.Falk, an incredibly explosive athlete, recorded an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark of 17.46m in the 35# Weight Throw. His effort was good enough for 7th place, and currently ranks as the 12th best throw in NCAA Div. II. Krout, Falk’s roommate at Hillsdale, finished second in the 60m Dash with a new school record of 6.96 seconds. Krout’s performance eclipses the 7.00 mark that teammate Josh Hutchison set last year, on his way to the GLIAC Championship. Krout also finished third in the Long Jump.Fellow jumper Andre Holmes also turned in a solid day for the Chargers. Holmes, who doubles as a wide receiver on the Charger football team, claimed first place in the Triple Jump. Holmes’ victory comes just one week after joining the Track & Field team. Other top performers for the Chargers included distance standouts Joel VanDerworp (2nd – 1000) and Alex Ralston (3rd – 3000), as well as Alex Schmidtendorff (4th – 3000), Tyler Breault (5th – PV), the 4x800 Relay team (6th), Nate English (7th – SP) and Timothy Howse (7th – 5000).The Chargers return to action next weekend at the Div.
