The Eagles were second last week at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational and eighth at the Grand Valley State Fall Invitational. At FSU, senior Chris Robertson and junior Danny Evans finished in a tie for fifth place. At Grand Valley State, senior Joe D’Andrea ended the event in a tie for third.

Ferris State registered a two-round 590 score at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational (Sept. 15-16) to claim fourth place of 11 participating teams. The Bulldogs posted rounds of 291 and 299 on the par 72, 6,674-yard Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. For the second straight tournament, sophomore Eric Lilleboe (Okemos/Lansing Catholic Central) led the way with a three under par 141-stroke total (68-73=141) to place third. Redshirt freshman Joe Brown (St. Ignace/LaSalle) shot a 147 (70-77=147, +3) which proved worthy of a 14th-place finish... The Bulldogs turned in a second-place showing at the Grand Valley State Laker Invitational (Sept. 17) by tallying a 600 (299-301=600) two-round stroke total on the par 71, 7,034-yard The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. FSU finished just two strokes in back of tourney champion and host Grand Valley State (598). Senior Matt Erickson (DePere, Wis.) and redshirt junior Derek Shelburne (Scotts/Vicksburg) paced the team by carding a pair of third-place tying 149 scores. Erickson fired rounds of 68 and 81 while Shelburne produced 78 and 71 scores... Ferris State returns to play Sept. 23-24 as the Bulldogs compete in the NCAA-II Great Lakes Region Tournament I at the HawksHead Golf Club in South Haven, Mich.

Oilers
The University of Findlay men’s golf team finished fifth at the Grand Valley State University Invitational on Monday, September 17 in Allendale, Michigan. The Oilers took fifth with a score of 613 (299, 314) while the host Lakers won their tournament after firing a 598 (303, 295)... The Oilers were led by Adam Craig, who finished eighth with a 150 (72, 78)... Kyle Nickson (74, 78 – 152), Eric Atsma (76, 77 – 153), Joe McGeean (74, 79 – 153), Kory Kotterman (78, 80 – 158) and Thomas Leidy (77, 84 – 161) also competed for Findlay... The Oilers will be back in action again on September 23-24 at the first NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional of the year. The event will be played in South Haven, Michigan at the Hawks Head Golf Course.

Grand Valley State came from behind to win the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational on Sunday…The Lakers were in fourth place and eight strokes behind first place Ashland heading into the final round… GVSU fired a 282 on Sunday, coupled with their 292 from Saturday to win the tournament…Sophomore Matt Malloure tied for first place as an individual as he recorded a five under par, 67 on Saturday and a one over par 73 on Sunday…He recorded a two day total of 140, which was four under par…Senior Josh Orler finished in fourth place overall with a two under par, 142…Sophomore Josh Burt fired a 72 and a 71 to tie for fifth place with a one under par 143. Junior Tyler Hering recorded a 149 (79, 70), tying for 17th place and freshman Mike Basinski tallied a 158 (83, 75), which tied him for 52nd place…GVSU then hosted the Laker Invitational at the Meadows Golf Course on Monday…The Lakers won the 36-hole tournament with a score of 598, two strokes ahead of second place Ferris State…Senior Josh Orler finished in second place with a 148, while junior Tyler Hering took third place with a 149…GVSU will play in the NCAA Great Lakes Region Invitational in South Haven, Mich. on Sept. 23-24.

Lakers
The Mercyhurst men’s golf team competed in the Clarion “Hal Hansen Invitational” on Sept. 16th-17th and finished 13th out of 21 teams. The Lakers were led by senior Kyle Waddell, who shot 15-over-par 159 after both days to finish in a eight-way tie for 32nd. Waddell was followed in the rankings by junior Tyler Bidwell(44th), senior Ben Deets (56), senior Steven Barr (72), and freshman Patrick Jackson (92). Mercyhurst returns to action on Sept. 23-24 to compete in the Great Lakes Regional Invitational.

The Northern Michigan University men’s golf team competed at the Grand Valley State Fall Invitational on Monday. NMU shot 636 (318-318) to take 10th place at the event. The GVSU (Blue) won with a card of 598 (303-295)... Tony Bilich led the ‘Cats with a 154 (78-76) which was good for a tie for 24th. One stroke back of Bilich was Luke Thode (77-78) as he tied for 28th. Robert Desimone shot a 166 (78-88) for the day. Teammates Tom Sacasin and Neil Passinault were next at 168 (88-80) and 169 (85-84) respectively... NMU will hit the links again for the NCAA II Regional Tournament which will be held in South Haven, Mich. on Sunday-Monday (Sept. 23-24).

Timberwolves
The Northwood University men’s golf team placed ninth out of 11 teams at the Grand Valley State Fall Invitational on Monday (Sept. 17)... NU shot a two-round score of 631 (313-318). The GVSU “Blue” team won the event with a recrod score of 598... Northwood was led by junior Aaron Warring (Highland, Mich./Milford) who finished tied for 13th with a score of 152, just five shots behind the medalist... ..The NU men’s golf team placed sixth out of 11 teams at the Bulldog Men’s Invitational Sunday afternoon (Sept. 16)...The Timberwolves shot team scores of 304-293 to finish at 597. Grand Valley was the overall winner at 574 (292-282), followed by Ashland at 579 (284-295)... Northwood’s lineup featured balance, as the Timberwolves top-three finishers had scores within one stroke of each other. Luigi Spadafora (Milford, Mich.) and Jason Dunlop (Markham, Ont.) each shot matching scores of 76 and 73 to finish at 149 and tie for 17th. Pat Swanton (Beaverton, Mich.) tied for 22nd at 150 (76-74).

The Katke Golf Course proved to be a challenge for the Saginaw Valley State men’s golf team with the final round concluding on Sunday and the Cardinals finishing fifth out of 11 schools with a total of 594 (+18). They were 20 strokes out of first place and compiled a 296 in round one on Saturday and a 298 on Sunday... Senior Sean Rutherford (East Lansing, Mich./Haslett) showed his leadership on the course as the Cards top finisher with a fifth place 143 (-1). Sophomore Mike Horn (Clarkston, Mich.) tied for 12th with a 146 (+2)...Sophomore Ronnie Coriasso (Grand Blanc, Mich.) fired rounds of 75 and 73 and finished with a four-over par 148. Junior Kasey Hocquard (Cheboygan, Mich.) was the fourth best finisher for SVSU with a total of 150 (+6).

Wayne State finished seventh at the Ferris State Invitational (299-300—599) over the weekend and third at Grand Valley State (313-291—604) on Monday … the Warriors came back from a seventh-place start on Monday to post the best score of any team at the event in the second round … sophomore Bryan Lynch (White Lake, Mich./Lakeland) earned medalist honors, the first of his college career, at GVSU shooting 147 (77-70) … his second round score is the lowest of any WSU golfer this season … Joe Juszczyk (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Divine Child), who placed eighth at Grand Valley, has three top-eight showings in four events this fall … he and Ryan Johnson (New Boston, Mich./Huron) are tied with a team-best 74.25 season average … Wayne State will play in the first Great Lakes Regional event of the season beginning Sunday, Sept. 23 at HawksHead Golf Course in South Haven.
