Ashland sophomore quarterback Billy Cundiff completed 20-of-29 passes for 389 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions as the Eagles defeated 23rd-ranked Northwood, 54-24. Cundiff’s yards passing total is the highest at AU since Jeff Leopold threw for a school record 440 yards against Grand Valley State in 1999. Cundiff’s one TD pass on Saturday covered 12 yards. He currently ranks third in the GLIAC with 280.7 passing yards per game.

In addition, the Laker starting defense held MTU to 267 yards through three quarters of action. GVSU is leading the GLIAC in scoring defense (11.7 ppg) this season |

Junior kicker-punter Jim Yates nailed a game-winning 41-yard field goal try with three seconds remaining to lift Ferris State over previously unbeaten Hillsdale, 44-41, on Saturday. In addition to the made field goal, Yates also converted five of his PAT kicks in the outing. He punted four times for 133 yards (33.2 avg.) and pinned the Chargers inside their own 20 on two occasions. |
