Senior quarterback C.J. Van Wieren helped account for five of the Bulldogs’ six touchdowns in their 42-19 season-opening win over Kentucky State. He completed seven-of-eight passes for a career-high 294 yards and two touchdowns. Van Wieren added a team-best 118 rushing yards on 17 carries along with three TD’s running the ball. Van Wieren’s performance included a 79-yard scoring toss and a 43-yard carry in the game. |

Senior All-American Brandon Carr played a major role in the Lakers’ starting defense holding St. Joseph’s College scoreless and to just 92 yards of total offense midway through the third quarter. Carr tallied three solo tackles, two pass deflections and returned an interception for a TD in the Lakers 42-14 season-opening win. Grand Valley State led 7-0 before Carr return and interception 11 yards for a TD on the first play of the second quarter. |

Sophomore place kicker Mark Petro finished off one of Hillsdale’s most productive offensive games in its history by going 8-for-8 on extra-point attempts, while hitting his only field goal. His eight extra-points are one shy of the school record of nine, set by former All-American Chester Marcol in 1970. |
