FSU scored the first 16 points of the second half in Saturday’s (Jan. 19) 63-58 league home win over Mercyhurst. The Bulldogs trailed 31-19 at the break, but netted 22 of the initial 26 points of the second stanza and never trailed the rest of the way... Freshman forward/center Justin Keenan (Grand Rapids/Ottawa Hills) tallied 57 points and 32 rebounds in three outings last week for the Bulldogs. Keenan averaged 19 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in the stretch while making 28 of his 33 (.848) free throw attempts. He totaled a contest-high tying 20 points and pulled down 14 boards in the Bulldogs’ win over Mercyhurst... Keenan has reached double-figure scoring in 17 of 19 outings this campaign and has netted six double-double (points & rebounds) efforts. He has also scored 20 points or more six times this season... Prior to last Monday’s loss to Northwood, FSU also had suffered an 86-68 setback to NU in the first matchup between the two teams earlier this year (Dec. 1) in Midland, Mich. One common factor from those two games – the Bulldogs had exactly 27 turnovers and Northwood scored 39 points off those turnovers in both of the meetings.
