Oilers
The #6 Oilers advanced to the championship game of the GLIAC Tournament for the fifth time in the last six years by defeating #7 Gannon 95-73…Six Oilers scored in double figures during the win as sophomore guard Marcus Parker led the way with 18 points…Junior center Lee Roberts tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds while junior forward Morgan Lewis and junior guard Tyler Evans registered 14 points apiece…Junior forward Josh Bostic and freshman guard Nathan Hyde added 13 and 11 points respectively…In the championship game, the Oilers fell 73-67 despite coming back from an 18 point, second half deficit…Bostic led the way with 22 points while Parker and Roberts scored 18 and 15 points respectively in the loss…All three were named to the all-tournament team…For their success, the Oilers earned a second seed in the Great Lakes Regional and will take on Lewis, a school they have played on the hardwood.

Golden Knights
Gannon received a bid to play in the 2008 NCAA Division II Tournament Sunday evening, marking the program’s 21st appearance and first since 2005 … the Golden Knights were ranked seventh in the March 4th NABC/Division II national rankings … it marks Gannon’s highest national ranking of the season and highest since being tabbed sixth in the February 15, 1988 poll … Gannon has played in seven of the last nine NCAA Tournaments, but hasn’t won a tournament game since an 82-81 victory over Bloomsburg in 1995 … Gannon has won 25 games for the fourth time in school history and first time since 1986-87 … only the 1986-87 team which played in the NCAA Division II National title game won more games with a 28-6 record … Vince Mosley (Boynton Beach, Fla./Dillard) reached the 20-point plateau for the eighth time this season with 21 points in the GLIAC semifinals … Mosley has 478 points this season, 37 shy of moving among Gannon’s all-time top-15 single-season marks … Gannon has shot 50 percent or better in 15 of 29 games this season.

Grand Valley State will serve as host of the 2008 NCAA DII Great Lake Regional...GVSU is the #1 seed and will open the tournament versus St. Joseph’s College Saturday at 6 p.m....GVSU improved to 18-5 all-time in 11 GLIAC Tournament’s with six titles. The Grand Valley State 2008 senior class finished 8-2 with two tourney GLIAC tourney titles. GVSU is 9-0 all-time in GLIAC Tournament games played at the GVSU Field house Arena. Grand Valley State has won a school-record 33 straight games. GVSU is the first collegiate basketball team in state of Michigan history to go 30-0 in the regular season. In addition, the Lakers have won 30 straight home games. Freshman forward Justin Ringler set a GLIAC Tournament record for made free throws in a series with 20. Ringler broke the previous record of 17 held by Joe Modderman (GVSU/1997) and Otis Evans (Wayne State/1992.) GVSU is 107-19 (.849) under head coach Ric Wesley. Wesley picked up his100th victory third-fastest (119 games) in DII history and eighth fastest in the history of college basketball. Wesley leads all active coaches in the NCAA ranks with an .848 winning percentage. GVSU is 89-9since the 2005-06 season overall, including a 49-5 record in GLIAC action. Grand Valley State is 62-4 at home under Wesley, including a current school-record 30-game home court winning streak.

Lakers
Lake Superior State, which was competing in the GLIAC Tournament for the first time since 2002 and in the GLIAC semifinals for the first time since 1996, lost 76-54 to No. 2-ranked Grand Valley State in the semifinal game on Friday. The Lakers finished 0-3 against GVSU this season…LSSU led 27-24 with 6:39 remaining in the first half, then went 5:26 without a basket…Junior forward Tim VanOudheusden (Grand Rapids, Mich.) led the Lakers with 10 points and eight rebounds…LSSU was the only team participating in the GLIAC final four that was not nationally-ranked…The Lakers have an all-time record of 4-3 in the GLIAC Tournament and won the title in 1996…LSSU junior center Ryan Kuhl (Rochester, Mich.) received All-GLIAC North Division First Team honors after averaging 14 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in 2007-08. He shot 52 percent from the field this season and is currently ranked sixth in career field-goal percentage at .537…Junior guard Mark Morse (Harbor Springs, Mich.) is ranked sixth in career three-point field goals with 176. He was 69-of-153 from behind the arc this season. He is listed seventh (70) and eighth (69) on LSSU’s single-season list for three-pointers made.
