Eagles
  Senior guard Brett Bartlett (LaGrange, OH/Kent State) became AU’s career leader in three-point field goals last week. On Saturday against Mercyhurst, Bartlett made the 215th three-pointer of his AU career. That sent him past LeBron Gladden, Ashland’s career scoring leader…redshirt freshman center Kale Richardson (Carroll, OH/Bloom-Carroll) recorded his fifth double-double of the season when he scored 23 points to go with 11 rebounds against Mercyhurst…as of last week, AU was third in the country in free throw percentage (78.0). AU is 12th in the country in three-point field goals per game (9.6). Bartlett was 13th in the nation in free throw percentage (88.3) and 17th in assist-turnover ratio (2.54)…senior guard Steve Gansey (Olmsted Falls, OH/Cleveland State) is 14th nationally in three-point field goal percentage…AU averages 78.3 ppg., but has scored 80 points in a game just once in the last five games…the Eagles will honor the two seniors on this year’s team (Bartlett and Gansey) prior to Thursday’s Wayne State game.

  Saturday’s (Feb. 16) home loss to Lake Superior State took place before a season-high crowd of 873 fans inside Wink Arena as Ferris State celebrated both “Think Pink” and “Health Care Awareness” Day. It was also an important contest for both teams in the race for the final GLIAC Tournament bids... FSU will attempt to sell out Jim Wink Arena for the first time as “Pack The House” night will be held and a variety of special activities will take place during the regular-season finale and Senior Night tilt versus GVSU. For the first time, the game will be carried live locally in addition to the internet as the Ferris Television and Digital Media Production program will broadcast the game... Ferris freshman center Justin Keenan (Grand Rapids/Ottawa Hills) has reached double-figure scoring in 24 of 27 outings this campaign and has netted six double-double (points & rebounds) efforts. He has also scored 20 points or more eight times this season.

Oilers
  The Oilers, ranked 7th in the nation, captured a pair of home GLIAC wins last week, winning 75-54 against Mercyhurst and 90-61 over #8 Gannon…The victories give the Oilers a ten game win streak and extended their regular season home winning streak to 57 games…Junior forward Josh Bostic led the charge by averaging 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game…Junior forward Morgan Lewis also had a stellar week for Findlay, averaging 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game on 14-of-17 (82.4%) shooting from the floor…Against Gannon, the Oilers forced a season-high 28 turnovers…Findlay also grabbed 30 offensive rebounds in the two games…Findlay’s bench also came up huge during the week, out-scoring the opponents bench 47-15…Head coach Ron Niekamp now has 508 career wins at UF…In this decade, Findlay has a record of 196-44 (.817), which is the second best in all of NCAA Division II basketball.

Golden Knights
  Gannon split its last GLIAC regular-season road trip last week, winning at Ashland (77-55) and losing at Findlay (90-61) … the Golden Knights were ranked eighth in the February 12th NABC/Division II national rankings and third in the February 13th Great Lakes regional rankings … Gannon clinched at least a share of the GLIAC South Division title for the first time since 2001-02 with Thursday’s victory at Ashland … the Golden Knights need one more victory or one more Findlay loss to win its first outright division title since 1999-00 … Saturday’s game was the fourth time in school history Gannon has played in a game featuring two top-10 teams and the first time since the 1987 NCAA Division II title game … Kyle Goldcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 27 points and a season-high 16 rebounds at Findlay.

   Grand Valley State has won a school-record 28 straight games. In addition, the 28 straight wins to open a season is the best start for any NCAA college in the state of Michigan...GVSU has won a school-record 32 straight regular season games and 26 straight home games...Head Coach Ric Wesley leads all active coaches in the NCAA ranks with an .842 winning percentage. GVSU is 84-9 since the 2005-06 season overall, including a 47-5 record in GLIAC action. Grand Valley State is 58-4 at home under Wesley, including a current school-record 26-game home court winning streak. Wesley has led GVSU to three straight GLIAC North Division titles (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08)...The GVSU senior class is 102-19...GVSU has held 91-of-its-121 opponents under 67 points. 70 opponents have scored less than 60 points and 35 have tallied 50 points or less...GVSU senior center Callistus Eziukwu has the third-best career blocked shot total in DII history with 310...Grand Valley State leads all NCAA school that play basketball in victories with 28.

Chargers
   The Chargers have put together its first two-game winning streak of the month thanks to wins over Ferris State (86-63) and Tiffin (62-60)…HC swept the two-game season series vs. both teams…Only one of those four games count in the team’s 7-8 conference record…A win in one of the team’s two games this week will likely assure the Chargers of a GLIAC Tournament spot, which would be their first since 2005-06…Junior Tony Gugino ti4ed his career-high in blocked shots in a game with five vs. Tiffin…He needs two more blocks to move into fourth place on Hillsdale’s career shot-block list…Gugino has four or more blocks in a game five times this season…Three of Hillsdale’s last four wins have come by at least 20 points…Five of the team’s 11 losses have come by nine points or less…Senior Tim Homan has scored 10 points or more in 22 of the team’s 25 games…He has made 16 3-point shots in his last three games…The Chargers haven’t beaten Findlay since the 1999-2000 season, and have only won five games vs. the Oilers in the history of the series…Gugino and Homan rank 1-2 in the conference in scoring, averaging 19.4 and 18.2 points per game, respectively.

  Junior forward Mike Rader (Wayland, Mich.) was 6-for-6 from three-point range and 7-for-7 from the field overall to finish with a season-high 20 points and lead the Lakers to their first regular-season sweep of Ferris State since the 2001-02 season. For the week, Rader averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 71 percent from the field overall, including 66.7 percent from three-point range…LSSU was 12-of-20 from behind the arc in its 92-80 victory at Ferris State. It was the third time this season the Lakers totaled a season-high 12 three-pointers … For the week, junior forward Tim VanOudheusden (Grand Rapids, Mich.) averaged 14.5 points and 5.0 rebounds, and junior center Ryan Kuhl (Rochester, Mich.) chipped in 15.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game…Kuhl is ranked 15th in the GLIAC in scoring (14.5 ppg), 12th in rebounding (6.5 rpg) and 12th in field-goal percentage (.517)…VanOudheusden is ranked second in the league in field-goal percentage at .847 (72-85).

Lakers

  The Lakers’ six-game winning streak was halted by Findlay on Thursday, and it was the team’s 11th-straight loss to the Oilers. The Lakers, however, bounced back to win its seventh game in eight outings two days later at Ashland. With the win, Mercyhurst won its ninth GLIAC game, giving them three-straight seasons and four seasons in the last five of at least nine conference wins... Against Findlay, T.J. Mathis scored 22 points, giving him back-to-back games of 20 or more. He also added 19 against Ashland to average 21.6 over the last three games. Mercyhurst produced several record-breaking performances against Findlay. The team sank 17 3-pointers, which snapped the previous school mark of 15 that was set in 2005. Mercyhurst’s 36 attempts fell two shy of the school mark, which was set earlier this season against Ashland. In two games against Ashland this year, the Lakers attempted 74 3-pointers. With 24 3-point makes in two games last week, Mercyhurst tied the school record for 3-pointers made in a season at 215.

Huskies
   Sean Geary (Marquette, Mich.) tallied a career-high 18 points last Thursday (Feb. 14) vs. Saginaw Valley State. The junior point guard has averaged 11.5 points per game over the last six games. His scoring average over the first 17 games of the year was 3.0 points … Senior Tim Strom (Marquette, Mich.) scored 26 points in two games last week to run his career total to 1,081 points — good for 17th all-time at Michigan Tech … Fedrick Bowe (Freeport, Bahamas) racked up 20 rebounds in two games last week to improve his season rebounding average to a team-high 7.1. The 6-5 forward ranks ninth in the league in rebounding … Tech is currently in second place in the GLIAC North Division. If it can remain in that position, it would mark the program’s best finish in the league since 2003-04 when it was second.

Wildcats
  The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team will not leave the U.P. for its final two games of the regular season…NMU will play at Michigan Tech on Wednesday (Feb. 20) and host Lake Superior State on Saturday (Feb. 23)…Last week at home the Wildcats split as they defeated Northwood (69-57) and lost to Saginaw Valley State (43-54)…Jake Suardini and Tyler Kazmierkoski each had 20 points against the Timberwolves…Suardini scored half of his points from the free throw line (10-11)…Kyle Greene off the bench had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds… Against the Cardinals, the ‘Cats only made one trip to the free throw line as Suardini made the throw…Suardini leads the team in scoring with 390 points (15.6 ppg), assists (73) and steals (43).

Timberwolves
   Northwood snapped its five game losing streak with a win at Michigan Tech Saturday … the Timberwolves dropped a game at Northern Michigan Thursday night … NU is still tied for third place in the tightly-contested North Division … NU’s defense was the key to victory at Michigan Tech, as the Timberwolves held the Huskies to 29.1 percent shooting from the floor (16-55) and 16.7 percent from 3-point range (4-24) … junior Mark Barnes (Saginaw, Mich.) continued his strong all-around play, averaging 19 points and nine rebounds per game … he registered his 11th double-double of the season at Northern Michigan, finishing with 23 points and 12 rebounds … ever since making a slight adjustment on his free throws, Barnes has made a remarkable turnaround … heading into the Tiffin contest, Barnes was shooting 44.3 percent from the stripe (35-79) in NU’s first 18 games … since then, however, Barnes is shooting 80.6 percent from the line (25-31) … combined with the women’s victory over the Huskies, Northwood earned its first GLIAC doubleheader sweep at Michigan Tech in program history … NU will travel to No. 2 Grand Valley Thursday before hosting Saginaw Valley State Saturday in the regular-season finale.

Cardinals
  SVSU swept its road trip in the Upper Peninsula last week, winning at Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan to improve to 10-14 overall on the season and 5-11 in GLIAC play…the win moved the Cardinals into a tie for sixth place in league play and one game out of third place…Lawrence Ross (Battle Creek, Mich./Miami, Ohio) scored a game high 26 points and added seven rebounds in the win over MTU Thursday …Mario Mackey (Aurora, Colo./Idaho) and Dante Williams (Romulus, Mich./E. Tenn. St.) paced the Cardinals against Northern Michigan with 16 points each…Mackey (17.7) currently ranks third in the GLIAC in points per game, while Ross (16.0) ranks eighth in the conference … Mike Zuiderveen (Kalamazoo, Mich./KVCC) recorded his ninth double-double of the season against MTU. Zuiderveen (11.8) currently leads the GLIAC in rebounds per game and is the only player in the GLIAC to average in double figures in rebounds per game…Williams ranks third in the GLIAC in three-pointers made per game (2.83) and also ranks 13th in the conference in three-point shooting percentage (.415)…Mackey (39.22), Ross (38.48) and Williams (36.92) make up the top three in minutes played per game in the GLIAC.

Warriors
   Wayne State has lost 10 straight games for the first time since the 1975-76 squad lost 11 consecutive contests (the 1962-63 squad lost its final 12 games plus the first four the next season) … WSU shot a season-best 90 percent (9-10) from the foul line against GVSU … the Warriors allowed opponent highs in field goal percentage (56% on 28-of-50) and three-point field goal percentage (56% on 9-of-16) against the Lakers … freshman Bryan Smothers (Pontiac, Mich./Northern) had 14 points, four rebounds and four steals in the loss at California (Pa.), and followed that with 10 points, five rebounds and four steals in the setback to GVSU … it was the second time this year that Smothers had scored in double figures in back-to-back contests (Jan. 17-19 at MTU and at NMU).
