Senior guard Brett Bartlett (LaGrange, OH/Kent State) reached the 1,000-point mark in last week’s game at Kates Gymnasium with Ferris State. Bartlett is the 21st player in school history to reach that level. The senior has 201 three-point field goals in his career. The school record is 214 by LeBron Gladden (1986-90). Bartlett also has as chance to set the school single-season record for free throw percentage. Bartlett is currently at 88 percent. The school record of 88.9 belongs to Lance Kimmel (1985-86)…redshirt freshman center Kale Richardson (Carroll, OH/Bloom-Carroll) recorded his fourth double-double of the season against Ferris State when he had 18 points and 11 rebounds…when AU scored 93 points against Ferris State, it marked the Eagles’ first 90-point output since Jan. 3 when AU lost in overtime to Hillsdale, 112-110... as of last week, AU was fifth in the nation in free throw percentage, 12th in three-point field goals per game and tied for 13th in fewest turnovers per game. Bartlett was 11th in the country in assist-turnover ratio and 15th in free throw percentage.

The Bulldogs will play four of their final six regular-season contests inside FSU’s Jim Wink Arena starting this Thursday, Feb. 7, when Northern Michigan visits for an 8 p.m. (EST) GLIAC encounter... Freshman guard Bryan Pasciak (Rockford) tallied a personal career-high 23 points in FSU’s 93-82 league setback at Ashland last Thursday (Jan. 31)... Freshman forward/center Justin Keenan (Grand Rapids/Ottawa Hills) averaged 17.5 points along with five rebounds per game in last week’s Bulldog trip to Ohio... Freshman guard DeJuan Wright (Detroit/Henry Ford) tallied a game-high 15 points in Ferris’ loss at nationally 11th-ranked Findlay on Saturday (Feb. 2)... Thursday’s loss at Ashland snapped a four-game Bulldog series’ winning streak against the Eagles... The Bulldogs have posted only a 7-17 record during the months of November and December the last two years, but are presently 12-15 in the same span following the New Year.

The Oilers claimed two GLIAC wins last week, winning 71-61 at Wayne State and 94-49 at home against Ferris State…Junior forward Josh Bostic led the way by averaging 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game…Bostic scored 17 points and dished out six assists in the Oilers win at Wayne State and then recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds in Findlay’s victory against Ferris State…Head coach Ron Niekamp now has 504 career wins at Findlay…Junior center Lee Roberts is ranked second in the nation in field goal shooting percentage at 72.1…The Oilers have the second best winning percentage in NCAA Division II competition during the 2000’s…During this decade, the Oilers have won 192 games and lost only 44 for a percentage of .814…The Oilers have currently won 55 straight regular season games in Croy Gymnasium…The last time Findlay lost at home came against Gannon on Feb. 12, 2004 when the Golden Knights upended the Oilers 70-68.

Gannon swept a pair of home games against GLIAC North Division opponents last week, defeating Saginaw Valley State (74-62) and Northwood (63-47) … the Golden Knights were ranked 15th in the January 29th NABC/Division II national rankings and third in the January 30th Great Lakes regional rankings … Gannon has tied the best 21-game record in school history with a 19-2 mark … only four other Gannon teams in school history have started 19-2 or better and it’s the best 21-game record since 2001-02 … Kyle Goldcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) recorded his fourth double-double of the season with a 15 points and 12 rebounds against Northwood … Goldcamp had 13 points and five rebounds in the second half as Gannon erased a 28-27 halftime deficit … Goldcamp recorded his 61st block of the season against Northwood, equaling the fourth-highest single-season total in school history … Gannon clinched a GLIAC Tournament spot last Saturday and can clinch its first GLIAC quarterfinal home game since 2003-04 with a victory Thursday (Feb. 7) against Hillsdale.

Grand Valley State senior center Callistus Eziukwu averaged 17.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of Laker victories last week. Eziukwu now has seven straight double-doubles on the year and is averaging 17.0 points and 8.9 rebounds in GLIAC action...GVSU held two GLIAC opponents 54 points under their regular season scoring average. The GVSU defense held Hillsdale and Ashland to 29.8 percent shooting from the floor (31-104) and 27.3 percent (12-44) from the three-point line...GVSU has scored 446 points in the first half of GLIAC games this season and 445 points in the second half... Grand Valley State has won a school-record 24 straight games. The 24 straight wins to open a season is the best start for a DI or DII school in the state of Michigan...GVSU has won a school-record 28 straight regular season games... The last three years GVSU has posted winning streaks that have spanned 17 (2005-06), 14 (2006-07) and 24 games (2007-08)under Wesley.

During their only three-game, one-week homestand of the season, the Chargers went 2-1, scoring decisive victories over Tiffin and Wayne State, while losing to No. 2 Grand Valley… Saturday’s 74-54 win over Wayne State was an historic one for Hillsdale basketball…It marked the first time in school history that both a men’s and a women’s player each scored 40 or more points in a game…On the men’s side, it was Tony Gugino, scoring a career-high 41 to lead Hillsdale…It had been at least 12 years since any Charger men’s player had scored 40 or more in a game, and now this season, both Gugino and Tim Homan have scored more than 40 in a game…Gugino set new career-highs in both scoring and rebounding (14 vs. Grand Valley) last week in back-to-back games…Gugino is averaging exactly 20.0 points per game this season, and averaged 30.7 in three games last week, his highest three-game scoring output of the season…Before that three-game stretch, Gugino had scored 18 points over a two-game span…Hillsdale needs just one GLIAC win to equal its conference win total from last season (seven).

Junior center Ryan Kuhl (Rochester, Mich.) recorded his second straight double double and third of the season by totaling 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds in the Lakers’ 58-49 victory over Northern Michigan Jan. 31. He averaged 15.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game for the week, which included an 83-71 loss to Michigan Tech…Kuhl is ranked 14th in the GLIAC in scoring (14.6 ppg), 11th in rebounding (6.7 rpg), 12th in field-goal percentage (.515) and sixth in blocked shots per game (1.11)…Tim VanOudheusden (Grand Rapids, Mich.) averaged 17.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg, and shot a perfect 11-for-11 at the free-throw line… VanOudheusden is ranked 22nd in the GLIAC in scoring (13.4 ppg) and third in free-throw percentage (.831).

Lakers
Mercyhurst continued to roll with two tight GLIAC wins over Northwood and Saginaw Valley, improving its winning streak to a season-high four games. All four victories have come over GLIAC teams and all four have been tightly contested. Mercyhurst’s average margin of victory in the four games has been just four points and one game (Northwood) went to overtime. Against both Northwood and Wayne State, Mercyhurst erased 12-point halftime deficits to win. It is the Lakers’ longest winning streak since winning six in Dec. of 2006. It is the first time the Lakers have put together four-straight GLIAC wins since Jan. 28-Feb. 11 of 2006. The overtime win over Northwood was also Mercyhurst’s second of the season, having won in OT against Ashland on Jan. 10. Terry Smith led the Lakers with 23 points in both games, giving him seven 20-point efforts this season. In the last four games, he has scored more than 20 points three times and is averaging 20.8 points per game. MC is 6-1 this season when Smith scores at least 20.

Michigan Tech improved to 11-9 overall and 6-6 in the GLIAC with its win at Lake Superior State last Saturday (Feb. 2). The Huskies have won four of their last six games including three straight road contests … Tech ranks second in the GLIAC in free throw percentage (74.4) and fifth in scoring defense (65.4) … Junior Sean Geary (Marquette, Mich.) scored 14 points last Saturday and has tallied 30 combined points over the last two games. The 5-10 point guard averages4.3 points per game on the season … Kris Alpers (Eden Prairie, Minn.) paced Tech in points vs. Lake Superior State with 15. It was the junior center’s ninth double-digit scoring outing of the season. Alpers and Fedrick Bowe (Freeport, Bahamas) are tied for the team lead (among players with two makes per game) in field goal percentage at 55.4 … Senior Kyle Pullen (Tustin, Mich./Pine River) matched his season high with six points at LSSU by going 3-of-3 from the field.

NMU played only one time last week at Lake Superior State …The two teams had to wait an extra day to play as the game was moved back because of the weather, the Lakers defeated the Wildcats (49-58)…This week the ‘Cats take a quick pit stop at home against Northland Baptist on Monday before heading back on the road to face Ferris State on Thursday and Grand Valley State on Saturday…Jake Suardini was the lone ‘Cat in double figures against LSSU with 21 points…Suardini was 10-13 from the free throw line against the Lakers as a team NMU was 14-20…The big three of Suardini (16.3 ppg), Tyler Kazmierkoski (13.2 ppg) and Jerard Ajami (13.0 ppg) lead the ‘Cats in scoring…Kazmierkoski (4.9 rpg) and Suardini (4.5 rpg) lead NMU off the glass…Suardini also leads the team in assists (62) and steals (39).

Timberwolves
Northwood dropped a pair of games in their final trip to Erie, Pa. for conference play, falling in overtime at Mercyhurst 74-68 before dropping a 63-47 game at Gannon … the Timberwolves led at halftime of both games – 39-27 at Mercyhurst and 28-27 at Gannon, but was out-scored 71-42 combined after the break in the two contests … Mark Barnes (Saginaw, Mich.) had a strong week for the Timberwolves, averaging 17.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game … Barnes registered his ninth double-double of the season at Mercyhurst, finishing with 20 points and 16 rebounds … NU struggled with its shot for the week, making 38.5 percent from the floor and 28.2 percent from 3-point range … the Timberwolves are currently 5-7 in the GLIAC, which places them third in the North Division … Northwood returns home to host the Ohio schools – the Timberwolves take one Ashland Thursday night before hosting 11th ranked Findlay Saturday.

The Cardinals (8-12, 3-9) dropped two games over the weekend, a 74-62 loss to #15 Gannon on Thursday and a 67-66 heartbreaker to Mercyhurst on Saturday. …Mario Mackey led the Cardinals in scoring (24.5 per contest), he had 27 points against Gannon and 22 at Mercyhurst… Mike Zuiderveen (Kalamazoo, Mich./KVCC) currently leads the GLIAC in rebounds per game (12.0), leading the GLIAC by two full rebounds, he is one of two players in the GLIAC averaging double digits in rebounds, he also ranks first in the nation (1-29-08) in rebounds…Lawrence Ross (Battle Creek, Mich./Miami, Ohio) ranks tenth in the GLIAC in points per game (15.5), 15th in rebounds per game (5.9) and is second in minutes played (38.16)…Zuiderveen is shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor on the season, which is the fifth highest percentage in the GLIAC…Dante Williams (Romulus, Mich./E. Tenn. St.) is fourth in the GLIAC in three-pointers made per game with 2.75 and ranks fourth in minutes (36.60)… Mackey ranks second in the GLIAC in scoring (18.5) and first in minutes played (39.21).

WSU has lost six straight games for the first time since the 1980-81 squad lost eight consecutive contests … after going four straight games without reaching double figures, junior Lorenzo McClelland (Oak Park, Mich.) scored 30 points (14 vs. Findlay, 16 at Hillsdale) last week … WSU tied a season-low in free throws made (5) and had the lowest number of foul shots attempted (8) in Saturday’s setback at Hillsdale … the Warriors had a season-low 21 rebounds in the loss to Findlay … the Chargers had nine turnovers, a season-low for a WSU opponent … Wayne State finished January with a 1-7 mark … sophomore guard Larry Edwards (Benton Harbor, Mich.) tied a career-high with four assists vs. Findlay … freshman guard Bryan Smothers (Pontiac, Mich./Northern) had a career-high 16 points against the Oilers and also had career-bests in three-pointers made (3) and free throws made (3).
