Hillsdale, Mich. - For the third year in a row, the Hillsdale College men’s and women’s basketball teams will do their part to help support breast cancer research through the WBCA’s Pink Zone program.
The Charger teams will join the program at their regular season home finale Saturday, Feb. 20 when they host the basketball teams from Michigan Technological University. The women’s game tips off at 1 p.m., with the men’s game to follow at 3 p.m.
The Hillsdale College Student Athlete Advisory Committee has
been active at raising funds throughout the community over the past
two weeks for the Pink Zone program. SAAC will have T-shirts for
sale at both the men’s and women’s games this weekend,
and the Charger women’s basketball teams will don pink
warm-up T-shirts before their game against No. 4-ranked Michigan
Tech.
Both basketball teams will wear pink shoelaces at the games in an
eff ort to raise awareness of the Pink Zone program. All proceeds
from T-shirt sales at the games will go towards the Pink Zone
project.
The WBCA began this program, formerly known as “Th ink
Pink,” in 2007, as an initiative to raise awareness of breast
cancer throughout college campuses and communities.
In February 2009, the Hillsdale College women’s basketball
team wore special pink jerseys as part of the program, and the
subsequent auction of those jerseys, raised several hundred dollars
for the WBCA’s Pink Zone program
