UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University Athletics will host the ninth annual breast cancer survivor reception and recognition event on Saturday, February 18. The event will be held in conjunction with the Cardinals' basketball doubleheader against Northwood University.
Each year more than 50 breast cancer survivors, from the Great Lakes Bay Region, attend this event on the campus of SVSU to be recognized and celebrate their journey of courage, hope and faith. To date, this event has raised over $27,000 for regional community members in need of breast care services.
All proceeds from the sale of promotional items, including but not limited to t-shirts and other commemorative gifts will be donated to St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute Breast Care Fund. The St. Mary's of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute Breast Care Fund provides mammograms and follow-up ultrasounds for qualified uninsured and underinsured patients.
This event is made possible by the generous contributions of our Cardinal athletics volunteers, student-athletes and sponsors including: Saginaw Radiotherapy Associates, P.C., Catholic Federal Credit Union and Mitchell Motorcoach. Additional support is being provided by Ernie & Leanne Balcueva and Family, Cardinal Deli and Your Healthy Balance.
