Hillsdale College Athletic Department Earns 2010-11 GLIAC Sportsmanship Award

BAY CITY, Mich. - After a banner athletic
season, Hillsdale College was recognized for its
outstanding sportsmanship by the other schools in the GLIAC.
Hillsdale was chosen as the recipient of the 2010-11 GLIAC
Sportsmanship Award. The award is voted on by the coaching staffs
of all 14 conference schools.
During the 2010-11 year, Hillsdale's football team qualified for
the NCAA Division II playoffs for the second year in a row. In
November, the Chargers hosted the GLIAC Volleyball Tournament for
the second year in a row, and also hosted the NCAA Division II
Midwest Regional Volleyball Tournament. In addition, Hillsdale
College played host to the 2010 GLIAC Cross Country championships.
Each of those events listed above occurred within a three-week
period of time in the month of November.
The school's men's basketball team achieved its first 20-win
season in nine years in 2010-11, while the women's basketball team
advanced to the conference tournament semifinals for the third time
in the past five seasons.
