Tiffin Univeristy F.A.R. Dr. Bonnie Tiell To Be Inducted to TU Hall of Fame

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin University will celebrate its history with the induction of the 15th class of the Hall of Fame Oct. 9. The Dragons annually honor past players, coaches, and administrators during their Homecoming Weekend. This year's inductees are Dave Rosen (Men's Basketball), Bonnie Tiell (Coach/Administrator), Gary DuPlessis (Men's Soccer), Greg Gaskin (Men's Basketball), and Wesley Russell (Football).
Dave Rosen (1950-51) is a NAIA
All-American men’s basketball player who helped lead Tiffin
University to its first appearance in a National Tournament in
1951. Dave was the leading scorer and Most Valuable Player for a
Dragons squad that won the Tri-State Championship over Lindsey
Wilson College. Dave also earned All-Division All-Ohio selection in
1951. Dave is a three-time All-Conference player who finished with
2051 career points. He earned his degree in Education and worked
for 40 years as a professional photographer before retiring. He and
his wife, Carolyn, reside in Lake Worth, Florida.
Dr. Bonnie Tiell (1988-2005) was one of the most
successful coaches in Tiffin University history. She totaled 425
victories while coaching volleyball, softball, and women’s
tennis. She has more victories than any other volleyball coach,
including three consecutive 30-win seasons from 1989-91. She led
the softball team to the 1991 Mid-Ohio Conference Championship, and
became the first Dragons women’s athletics coach to lead her
team to the NAIA National Tournament when Tiffin won the
Bi-District 15 Championship in 1993. Tiell also took a young
women’s tennis program and developed it into a regional
power. As an administrator, Bonnie served as Assistant Athletic
Director, Senior Women’s Administrator, and Hall of Fame
Coordinator, spearheading gender equity initiatives. She is also
active nationally with the Women’s Leadership Symposium. She
currently serves as Faculty Athletic Representative, Associate
Professor of Sports Management, and the MBA chair. She and her
family reside in Tiffin.
Gary DuPlessis (1995-97) is one of
the top men’s soccer players in recent Tiffin University
history. He earned two NAIA All-American citations while also
garnering three All-Region, District, and Mid-Ohio Conference
honors. He was instrumental in leading Tiffin University to the
1995 Mid-Ohio Conference Championship and finished his career ninth
in scoring. He earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree
in Business Administration from Tiffin University and currently
works as Application Sales Representative for Oracle Corporation.
He and his family reside in Bedford, New Hampshire.
Greg Gaskin (1994-98) is one of the premier post players for
Tiffin University’s men’s basketball program. He earned
NAIA All-American honors while also collecting four All-Mid-Ohio
Conference citations. He is eighth in career scoring with 1444
points while also finishing fifth in career rebounds. He also
finished in the top 10 in seven offensive categories. He earned a
degree in Business Administration and currently works as a Mortgage
Loan Purchase Specialist at US Bank. He and his
family reside in South Euclid, Ohio.
Wesley Russell (1995-98) is one of the premier defensive backs in
Tiffin University football history. He earned Second Team Football
Gazette All-American honors while amassing four All-Mid-States
Football Association citations during his career. He holds the
career interceptions and blocked kicks record while also ranking
fifth in career tackles and second in deflections. He ranks in the
top five in four defensive categories. He earned a degree in
Criminal Justice and currently works as a counselor for Direction
for Youth and Families. He
resides in Columbus, Ohio.
